Trip to Copan
In 1839 I went to Copan with a journalist named Mr. Stephens. We went to the bank of the Copan river and saw a stone wall. Then we went to an unexpected area called the city of silence. Then we saw Mayan art that showed what their life was like. Copan is a very cool place to explore.
We went to a river bank. It was the the bank of the Copan river. In the opposite direction there was a stone wall about 100 feet high. There was furze growing on the top. The wall was made of well laid cut stone.
We saw a stone column that was fourteen feet high and three feet on the sides. We followed our guide though the forest to an unexpected area. This area was called the city of silence. While we were traveling through the city of silence we saw these amazing monuments of the Mayans. Then we saw Mayan art that shows how their lives were. It's impossible to describe the stuff we want to learn about these impressive things.

Mr. Catherwood wrote drawings on ruins. Mr. Stephens went to the village and met Don Jose Maria. The villagers lived in huts. Mr. Stephens wanted to buy Copan because he would bring back men and tools to explore Copan. Don Jose Maria pays 80dollars a year for Copan and Mr Stephens bought Copan for 50dollars.
My favorite part of exploring Copan was the village. Another fun part was when he bought Copan. The funniest part was the monkeys. Another impressive part was the stone wall. The most amazing part was the city of silence.
